Andy B. Waite, PTA

Andy is a Physical Therapist Assistant with special training in the McKenzie Method, Applied Functional Science, Graston M1 and BLS. He became interested in physical therapy while playing football and soccer throughout high school and college, which led to a number of orthopedic injuries. His sports injuries include sprained AC ligament, sprained ankle, dislocated finger, broken arm and broken toe. He has always been intrigued with the rehabilitation process and learning how the body recovers.

Andy’s patient care philosophy is to treat the patient, not the diagnosis. Every patient has a different way they cope with surgical recovery and rehabilitation. He tries to understand each patient and how they work so he can better encourage and support them during the recovery process. As a PTA he is heavily involved with the follow up visits where he enjoys seeing how people gain back their independence.

During his clinical rotations in school, he had a patient who had a hip replacement. This particular patient was either really early or really late to his appointments. In talking with him, Andy learned that the patient did not have a car so he would have to walk to physical therapy if he could not find transportation. He was so dedicated to his recovery that he never missed an appointment, even given his tough circumstances. Andy was so inspired by this patient and continues to be inspired by patients who make the best out of hard situations.

Born in Hattiesburg and raised in Meridian, Andy graduated from Mississippi State University with a Bachelors in Kinesiology. He then graduated from PTA school at Meridian CC and is now married with 1 child. He enjoys hunting, fishing and MSU athletics.
