Cody L. Pounders, OTR/L, CHT

Cody is a registered and licensed Occupational Therapist. His special training includes Certified Hand Therapist, certified in casting motion to mobilize stiffness, M1 Graston Technique and McKenzie Diagnosis and Therapy Part A and B.

Growing up playing sports, Cody had numerous stints of therapy specifically with the upper extremity and quickly knew this is a profession he would enjoy and be passionate about. Whether its a return to sports or work, he uses his personal experience to connect to his patients during their recovery process. He treats each patient like they are family and enjoys being their advocate to ensure they are receiving the best treatment. His patient care philosophy is to always keep the patient’s best interest in mind while exerting kindness and compassion along the way.

When working with patients, Cody likes to take the role of a coach. His approach is to problem solve and guide his patients to reach their goals. One patient recovery story that continues to inspire Cody was a patient that suffered a traumatic injury to her left hand, resulting in over 2 years of chronic hand stiffness and inability to use her dominant hand. After implementing a specialized technique over 8 weeks, she was fully functional again and could form a complete fist. She was able to write her name again after 2 years!

Cody was born and raised in New Hope, MS where he grew up playing baseball and went on to play at East Mississippi Community College. He continues to live in New Hope with his wife and 3 year old son, with another child on the way. He loves all things baseball and golf and is a big fan of Mississippi State, Dallas Cowboys and Atlanta Braves.
