G. Scott Jones, M.D.

As a graduate and a huge fan of Mississippi State University, Dr. Jones was thrilled become one of our Mississippi State University orthopedic and sports medicine team doctor over 25 years ago.  He also serves in the same role for many local high schools, as well as Mississippi University for Women.  Dr. Jones has seen just about everything from big sports injuries like torn ACLs, dislocated shoulders, torn rotator-cuffs, broken legs and broken arms to smaller sports injuries like broken fingers, sprained ankles and strained muscles.

Whether it is an athlete, retiree, weekend warrior, or injured worker, Dr. Jones creates an individualized treatment plan to maximize the patient’s return to their normal activities.   His conservative treatment plans focus heavily on physical therapy and occupational therapy. For more serious injuries, surgery may be the best option to help patients return the activities they love.

Not only does Dr. Jones treat injuries of the knee, hip, shoulder, hand, and ankle, he also provides care to patients who experience post-traumatic arthritis or osteoarthritis. These patients may eventually need a total knee replacement, total hip replacement or total shoulder replacement surgery. His total joint patients also have a dedicated nurse case manager to educate and support them throughout their experience.  Dr. Jones is able to take care of many total joint patients at the outpatient surgery center located right next door. His patients can have their procedure done in the morning and later that same day, patients are able to recover in the comfort of their own home.

Dr. Jones is a native of Starkville, Mississippi, and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Mississippi State University with a degree in Biochemistry.  He attended medical school at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine and completed his orthopaedic residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.   Dr. Jones is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Dr. Jones knows how important family time is to his patients, as he enjoys spending time with his wife, three children and two sons-in-laws.  He is also an avid hunter.
