Surgeon Spotlight – G. Chris Galjour, MD

Dr. Galjour has served as one of the Mississippi State University Orthopedic Team Doctors for over 10 years. At Mississippi State games, you will often see him on the sidelines working with the coaches and athletic training staff or on the field assessing injured players.  He also takes care of student-athletes at East Mississippi Community College, Mississippi University for Women, local junior high and high schools. He works with each athlete to balance their desire to play sports with the need to heal their orthopedic injury for long term success.

Dr. Galjour enjoys treating a wide range of orthopaedic injuries and conditions including those related to hand, elbow, shoulder, knee, hip and ankle.  He has the expertise to determine if broken bones or torn ligaments just need a splint or a cast; and other times these fractured bones or ligament tears require minimally-invasive surgery.

Dr. Galjour was born and raised in Columbus, Mississippi, and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Mississippi State University with a degree in Biological Sciences.  He completed medical school at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine.  Dr. Galjour served as Chief Resident during his final year of orthopaedic residency at the University of Tennessee – Campbell Clinic Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.  He then spent extra time for fellowship-training with the Campbell Clinic hand and upper extremity team in Memphis, Tennessee.  Dr. Galjour is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
